NIDEK Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that NIDEK acquires Fortune Technologies Srl, headquartered in Italy, and its branch office Fortune Technologies America in the U.S. Effective April 1st, 2001, both entities are incorporated as NIDEK Technologies Srl and NIDEK Technologies America Inc. respectively.
Fortune Technologies has developed advanced instruments and software for ophthalmology and optometry for the past 10 years. And NIDEK and Fortune Technologies have entered into R&D and distributorship agreement since 1998.
Major roles of NIDEK Technologies Srl and NIDEK Technologies America Inc. within NIDEK group are agreed as follows.
- Research and development of NIDEK-branded high-tech instruments and software for ophthalmology and optometry
- Sales and marketing support to NIDEK and its partners in each region and country
- Direct sales of specified products in Italy and the US respectively
NIDEK Technologies Srl in Italy will be operated under the management by Mr. Aldo Cocchiglia, Vice President and Managing Director.
NIDEK Technologies America, Inc. in the U.S. will be operated under the management of Dr. Philip M. Buscemi, Vice President and General Manager.
