When seven of us first started NIDEK, we had limited financial resources and our strong passion for "Eye Care" was the only asset we had. We vowed to become a company that links optics and electronics, and provides technology and service that are unique and unprecedented in the market of ophthalmology. Fortunately, the first Xenon photocoagulator in Japan that we developed in 1973 became a huge success, leading us since to develop various products for ophthalmology and the optical laboratory. Today, our passion for "Eye Care" has expanded to "Eye & Health Care". With the technologies that we have fostered through the development of ophthalmic equipment, we are venturing towards the dream of offering health for all through such technological advancements as skin rejuvenation and visual prostheses. With "Eye & Health Care", NIDEK will continue to endeavor to maintain and advance its position as a valuable company in this world.
